Selena Gomez received her first Golden Globe nomination for acting, for her portrayal as Mabel Mora in Only Murders in the Building. On December 12, Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva revealed the nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary, Kaley Cuoco of The Flight Attendant, Jenna Ortega of Wednesday, and Jean Smart of Hacks are also nominated for 2023 Golden Globes.
But Gomez won’t be the only Arconian attending the event in January 2023. Her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short are also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series-Musical or Comedy for their roles as Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam, respectively, while the Hulu hit is up for Best Television Series-Musical or Comedy.
Only Murders in the Building has four nominations, along with Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Pam & Tommy, and The White Lotus.
Along with Martin and Short, Gomez serves as an executive producer for Only Murders in the Building. And she adores the show as if it were a love song, baby.
“This programme has transformed my life in so many ways,” she said on Good Morning America at the season two premiere of Only Murders in the Building, which is gearing up for season three in June. “Having the opportunity to take on this position was one of the greatest chances, and then I’m surrounded by these men who are bonafide legends, and it’s just a blast.”

Furthermore, Elvis, the popular biography about Elvis Presley, has been nominated for best motion picture drama, and its protagonist, Austin Butler, has been nominated for best drama actor. Pam & Tommy, about Motley Crue’s Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee Jones, is nominated for outstanding television limited series, anthology series, or motion picture created for television. Its performers, Lily James and Sebastian Stan, are nominated for best actress and best actor in a TV movie or limited series, respectively.
The short series George and Tammy about country nobility George Jones and Tammy Wynette were not nominated for best television limited series, anthology series, or motion picture created for television, but Jessica Chastain was. Chastain won an Oscar in March for her performance as Tammy Faye Bakker, another renowned singing celebrity.
The Banshees of Inisherin had the most nominations this year, with eight, followed by Everything Everywhere All at Once (six), Babylon (five), and The Fabelmans (five).
Abbott Elementary had the most nominations, with five, followed by The Crown, Dahmer – Monster; The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Only Murders in the Building, Pam & Tommy, and The White Lotus, each with four.
“The Daniels” – Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – were nominated for best director – motion picture for their work on Everything Everywhere All at Once. The Daniels are just the third directorial combination to be nominated in this category, after Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise (West Side Story, 1961) and Joel & Ethan Coen (Joel & Ethan Coen, 2001). (No Country for Old Men, 2007). The Daniels were also nominated for Best Motion Picture Screenplay.
Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift are three of the candidates for best song. Meanwhile, four of the five contenders for best score are previous winners, including the legendary John Williams, who has won the award four times in a row.
For his work in Only Murders in the Building, Steve Martin has been nominated for best television actor in a musical or comedy series. This is his eighth nomination for a Grammy. Surprisingly, he has yet to achieve victory. According to the Globes, Martin, 77, is the oldest man nominated in this category.
The Globes also note that Niecy Nash, nominated for her performance in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, could become the first Black actress to win a Golden Globe for a limited series; that Henry Winkler, a two-time Globe winner for Happy Days who is nominated this year for Barry, could become the first actor to win in both lead and support categories on a comedy series; and that father-and-son Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson
The Golden Globes will be hosted by Jerrod Carmichael for the 80th time. The three-hour event will be broadcast live from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., on NBC and Peacock on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
In collaboration with the HFPA, dick clark productions and Jesse Collins Entertainment will produce the programme. Collins, the CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment, is expected to co-executive produce the programme with Dionne Harmon, another senior executive at his firm.
