2022’s Top Entertainment Google Searches

Google has revealed the top popular entertainment searches for the year 2022.

The defamation case that Johnny Depp filed against his ex-wife Amber Heard, the Oscars slap that was heard around the globe, and the enchanting sounds of “Encanto” dominated the top trending search entertainment categories on Google in 2022.

On May 27, in the Fairfax County Circuit Courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia, actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were spotted in the courtroom for the closing arguments. Depp was on the left, while Heard was on the right.

As the high-profile litigation played out from April to June of this year, searches for Depp soared to the top of the trending actor list. Additionally, he was the one who was searched for the most out of all other people worldwide. Heard ranked third on both the overall list of most-searched people and the celebrity list of most-searched current topics.

At the 94th Academy Awards, which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Will Smith was seen slapping Chris Rock onstage.

Will Smith‘s slap of Chris Rock at the Oscars in March, which occurred after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, helped propel him to the number two spot among the most trending actors. Rock landed in the fourth spot on the list, while Jada Pinkett Smith came in at number seven.

Despite the fact that it won’t be released until November 2021, Disney’s “Encanto” has already taken the lead in both the movie and song lists.

The song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from “Encanto” is currently the most popular song in the country. What led up to that event?

This year, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the movie was the song that was searched the most often, as it was the most popular song from the film. The song “Surface Pressure” from the soundtrack finished in second place, and “What Else Can I Do” took tenth place on the list of most popular songs.

People had other things on their minds that they wanted to look up in 2022, such as Adam Levine (who topped the list of artists and bands) and the HBO show “Euphoria” (which topped the TV show list).

Kate Bush was ranked seventh on the artist and band list, and her 1985 hit “Running Up That Hill (Deal With God)” made it to sixth on the song list. This was due to the song receiving a “whole new lease of life” in the fourth season of “Stranger Things.” Nostalgia was also a major theme of trending search categories.

Kate Bush shares her thoughts when the song “Running Up That Hill” is given a “whole new lease of life” by the show “Stranger Things.”

The time period covered by Google’s data collection was from January 1 through November 27. “searches that saw a high jump in traffic over a prolonged period in 2022 as compared to 2021,” is how the company defines trending items.
